Mike Wallner FHFMA, MSHA
President 2011 - 2012

Dear HFMA Colleague,

It is with great pleasure I begin my term as President of the Northeast HFMA Chapter. First and most importantly, I would like to send a very special thank you to all of the chapter's Officers, Board and Committee members for all the effort put forth in making this past year a very successful one. A special thank you and congratulations to our Past President, Mollie Kennedy! Under Mollie's tireless efforts and leadership, our chapter was able to exceed and achieve national assigned targets for education hours, membership growth/retention, member certification and other important requirements. I am also happy to report that several members have “stepped up” into leadership roles to help ensure the continued success of our chapter. Those members include: Paul Gordon, President-Elect, Rabin Kayastha, Secretary and Tige Monecelli will begin the officer rotation for 2012-2013 chapter year.
The new chairman's theme for this year is “Believe to Achieve”! According to Greg Adams, in health care today, it sometimes seems like you are being asked to do the impossible. The industry is preparing for an influx of millions of newly insured patients in a reform environment where payments are shrinking and expectations around quality are growing. In a nutshell, you are expected to do more with less-and do it better than ever before. “Believe to achieve” encompasses the keys to success in this new environment. It reflects the need to believe in your organization's mission and in others who share your dedication to achieving that mission. It means believing in you. Last but not least, it means believing in the possibility of a better future. By choosing to believe that, together, we can solve the problems that have challenged our industry for so long; we can find a place for ourselves and our organizations in the new reform environment and help shape the future of American health care.
I believe the same message holds true for our chapter and I look forward to working with all of you throughout the coming year. I encourage you to join us at many of the great educational sessions we have planned that include such topics as: Physician/Split Fee Billing, Corporate Compliance, ICD-10, Value Based Purchasing, Lean in Healthcare and many more. Our popular social events are a great place to catch up with members and establish new professional relationships as well. I look forward to seeing you all there and thanks again for your continued support of Northeast New York HFMA.
Regards,

Mike Wallner, FHFMA, MSHA
